Psoriasis Scalp psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by the appearance of scaly plaques, redness, and itching. The severity can vary from mild flaking to thick plaques extending beyond the hairline. Factors that contribute to the development or worsen the condition include stress, cold and dry climate, infections, excessive use of irritating hair products, scalp injuries, and certain medications. There is no complete cure, but many treatments help control the symptoms.
